Call Me Ang: Layers and Stripes

Layers and Stripes

I love stripes, BUT...stripes don't love me.  Horizontal lines are not flattering on my figure, but that doesn't stop me from wearing them! I picked this tee up on clearance. I paid a whopping $6.00! I'll share the link, but it might be worth your while to head to the store and pick one up (the price is higher online).

I used to wear my hair in braids all the time.  When I cut it off into a lob in the Fall, I wasn't able to wear my hair in creative ways any longer. Today I tried to wear a braid again. It gives the appearance that I'm a free spirit....Nothing can be further from the truth. I may be a product of two hippies, but this girl is wound tight. I also have a love for cross-body handbags. When you are out shopping with kids, being hands-free is essential.

A trench is so versatile. You can wear it with dressier clothing, but you can also wear it with casual outfits (as I did today).  The trench is an iconic wardrobe staple...and I firmly believe that all women should have one in their closet.  Don't forget to pop that collar!

Finally, I received these sunglasses as a Christmas present from the husband. I love aviators. If you have followed me on social media through the years, then you know I have an obsession with sunglasses. My husband says I look like a fly...I googled fly eyes. Sure enough the lenses are a near match....Thanks for the visual my love.  I'm going to wear them anyway, because green and matte gold are where it's at!

For what it's worth...I have Tory Burch Revas (in Royal Tan) on my feet. I failed to capture them in my pictures. I'm still bitter she redesigned the shoe. It's the only flat that saved my feet from blisters. So Tory...if you are reading this...PLEASE bring the elastic back!

It's a COLD and snowy today in Virginia. The snow started falling around noon and hasn't stopped.  The kiddos were out of school all last week due to snow and ice. Looks like they won't be going back tomorrow either.  Send wine...or reinforcements...my kids are starting to get cabin fever. HELP!

If there is a silver lining...Today is my beautiful daughter's 12th birthday...and I was able to pick up her cake from the best bakery in town - before the roads got bad. I'll post a pic later on Instagram...try not to lick your screen.

TTFN,

  1. Such a great outfit, and the stripes look fabulous on you!
I just ordered a new pair of silver Revas because my old pair look pretty shabby (actually, quite a few of mine are looking sad). I hope they're not too uncomfortable without the elastic. I tried them on briefly in the store in another color, and they just felt stiffer than any of my others.

    1. Get back with me and let me know what you think about the new revas. I don't think I can wear them. The only reason I was crazy about revas in the first place, was because of the elastic back. So disappointed.

  2. I am going to have to get that turtleneck. It's adorable!

I agree about the trench. I didn't have one until I was given one of my grandmother's, whom passed last year. Now I know why it's important.

You were raised by hippies?! I had no inkling! You should do a post about that tidbit.

    1. I'm sorry for your loss. Grandmothers are so incredibly special. Yes....raised by hippies. I think that throws most people for a loop, upon meeting me....My middle name is Star...if that solidifies your doubt. ha!

  3. I'll let you know about the Revas. They just arrived a few days ago and I've been too under the weather to even open the box they were shipped in. My daughter replaced her black pair before Christmas and said they are not as comfortable as her old pair with the elastic. Why oh why do so many things have to be "improved upon?"

  4. I love wearing horizontal stripe tees. Even with a bigger bust like me, it's a classic I can't get away from! I find the narrower the stripe the easier it is to pull off, which makes me happy.

Hope you guys are back to school tomorrow... I doubt they have any Spring Break left, right?!
